Researching Your Artefacts

By the end of the ‘Understanding Evidence’ session your pupils will have developed questions they would like to ask about their artefacts and will have discussed where they might find the answers to these questions.

You might like to download the document entitled ' Continuing Your Enquiry' for ideas of how to follow up your pupils' personal enquiry. There is also an ideas sheet on how to use artefacts to introduce new area of your topic and develop knowledge and understanding of your theme.

Brief teachers' notes are available to download showing contents for each of the artefact boxes, on the ‘Your Resources’ page. These are intended as a starting point and guide for teacher use only.

If you would like libraries to support your research please contact Elaine Wallis, Schools Liaison Librarian, on 01482 331357 or email elaine.wallis@hullcc.gov.uk

Historical documents are also valuable sources of information about our past. See also the 'Documenting our Past' resources on My Learning by Hull History Centre, dedicated to helping you get the most out of historical documents!
