Description:
The
Record Office exists to preserve and provide access to a wide range of Resources
which can be used to research the history and culture of Leicestershire, Leicester and Rutland.
The extensive collections, dating from the Domesday Book to yesterday, include archives,
books, newspapers, maps, photographs, videos and sound recordings. The Record Office enables you to
access all these resources to find out about your
family tree, house history, local study, school, college or university projects, and a host of other
topics.

Learning Programmes:
The Record Office for Leicestershire, Leicester and Rutland offers a range of services to schools, colleges and universities.
We can:
- advise teachers at any stage in the National Curriculum seeking resources on a wide range of topics
- provide reproductions of resources in hard copy or CDRom
- advise PGCE students using archival and local studies material in the classroom
- deliver a tailored session for PGCE students using original archival material
- organise school visits to the Record Office, by arrangement, which includes a tour of the strongrooms and the chance to examine original documents.
