This fragment of mosaic is from archaeological finds at Dalton Parlours Roman villa. The mosaic shows Medusa in the centre. In Greek mythology, Medusa was a gorgon with snakes for hair. Anyone who looked directly at her was turned to stone. The mosaic is on display at the Yorkshire Museum. Image courtesy of York Museums Trust | https://yorkmuseumstrust.org.uk : CC BY-SA 4.0
