An orange flag with the Khalsa Khanda symbol
Nishan Sahib, or flag, from India (2014) An orange flag with the Khalsa khanda symbol, a small version of the large flag installed outside every Gurdwara. The khanda symbol incorporates several Sikh weapons, the khanda itself, a double edged sword in the centre, with a circular quoit called a chakkar around it, and below this two kirpan or single edged swords. Polyester and plastic. This small flag was probably designed to fix on a car for a wedding, or for a Vaisakhi procession. Image: © Leeds Museums and Galleries
