Electric Trolley Bus to Roundhay Park, Leeds 1940s

In 1891, the first electric trolley bus system took visitors from the city centre out to Roundhay Park. There were long queues at weekends and holidays.

This photo from the 1940s shows a snow sweeper clearing the tracks in front of the trolley bus on Prince's Avenue. The entrance to Roundhay Park is off the picture to the left while Canal Gardens are behind the wall on the right.

Can you see the family on the far left? Where are they going? Who are they going to see? Does the sweeper look like road sweepers today? How are the trolleybuses powered?
