Fragment of mosaic found at Dalton Parlours

This fragment of mosaic is from archaeological finds at Dalton Parlours Roman villa. The mosaic shows Medusa in the centre. In Greek mythology, Medusa was a gorgon with snakes for hair. Anyone who looked directly at her was turned to stone. The mosaic is on display at the Yorkshire Museum. Image courtesy of York Museums Trust | : CC BY-SA 4.0
