Map of the World Printed 1544-52

Detailed woodcut map of the world from the British Museum collection. It was probably printed by Petri in Basel, Switzerland in 1544-52 for a book by Sebastian Münster, called 'Cosmographia'. What does it tell us about how Europeans viewed the world in the Tudor period? Do the images around the map help you to understand the geography, or understand how people thought at the time?
