Persil Packaging 1971

The 1970s saw more families buying the new front-loading automatic washing machine and Persil appealed to these households by using an image of the new machine on the packaging to show that their product was suitable to use with the new technology. The automatic machine reduced the time needed for washing clothes which meant that women had more time to go out to work and to spend with their families. The ease of washing also meant that people washed their clothes more often.
