Raw Cotton and Cotton Seeds

Raw cotton and cotton seeds. The seeds are shown in the bottom left of the photograph.

Raw cotton was grown on plantations using the labour of enslaved Africans. It was shipped to Britain to be used in textile mills, including in Leeds.
