The Waterloo Lake, Roundhay Park by John Wilson Carmichael, 1838

The artwork shows a view across Waterloo Lake at Roundhay Park, likely to be drawn from the dam end of the lake looking towards where the boat house and café is now. Although there is probably some artistic imagination in the image too! It’s a highly pastoralised image, with cows grazing on the far shore, and you can see the Mansion House in the background.
