Scarab Beetle Amulet - Topside

This scarab amulet is made from steatite and has a blue glaze. There are hieroglyphs on the base (see image titled 'Scarab Beetle Amulet - Underside'.

The scarab is one of the most common representations in the Egyptian culture. It was associated with the solar God Khepri, who pushed the sun across the sky everyday like the beetle constantly pushed a ball of dung.
