Scarab Beetle Amulet - Underside

This scarab amulet is made from steatite and has a blue glaze. This image shows the base with  hieroglyphs carved into it. For an image of the top of the scarab beetle see 'Scarab Beetle Amulet - Topside'.

The scarab is one of the most common representations in the Egyptian culture. It was associated with the solar God Khepri, who pushed the sun across the sky everyday like the beetle constantly pushed a ball of dung.
