'Marspen Monster' Pins Sold by Marks & Spencer in WW1

Marks & Spencer first started as stalls selling goods like these pins for one penny. The shortages during the First World War made it harder to sell goods at such low prices and the company began to close down its remaining stalls in favour of its shops
