Singer Sewing Machine

Hand sewing machines like this one, revolutionised the making of clothes, as before, everything had to be stitched by hand, a slow process! This machine dates from around 1905 and is on a hinge, so it can be flipped up to get to the mechanisms underneath, and the handle folds down for storage.
