'The Speaking Picture Book', Published 1893
'The Speaking Picture Book' was one of the first noisy books for children. Eight coloured illustrations of farmyard animals and two children are made to ‘talk’ by pulling one of the cords at the side. This ingenious design uses air forced through paper bellows hidden in the book to create the sounds.
