The Anglo-Saxon period saw enormous changes taking place in York. New settlers from across the North Sea brought a new language, a new religion and a completely different way of life.

This resource uses real and fictional characters to examine how events and individuals helped to shape the modern town.  It describes how the abandoned Roman city was gradually repopulated and how York became known throughout Europe as a centre of Christianity, learning and trade.
