Modern Houses

The houses in Port Sunlight were built for each family with separate rooms for sleeping, washing clothes and a parlour (living room). The houses were innovative at the time as most had toilets and bathrooms which most working class people at the time did not have access to.

Over 900 flats and houses were built in the village.

Originally only employees of Lever Brothers Ltd could rent the houses.
